Top 5 Communication Apps on Android in Cyprus Q2 2023

In the second quarter of 2023, the top communication apps on the Android platform in Cyprus demonstrated varying trends in downloads and revenue. Here, we take a closer look at the performance of the leading apps, based on data from Sensor Tower.

WhatsApp Messenger saw a significant increase in weekly downloads as the quarter progressed. Starting with around 2K downloads at the beginning of April, it reached a peak of approximately 7.5K in the first week of June. This growth was sustained towards the end of the quarter, with weekly downloads remaining above 4.5K.

Telegram experienced a steady increase in both downloads and revenue. Weekly downloads rose from about 1.4K at the start of April to a high of nearly 2.8K by the end of June. Revenue also showed a positive trend, starting at around $300 per week and peaking at approximately $373 in mid-April.

Snapchat displayed a consistent upward trend in downloads, beginning the quarter with roughly 1.2K weekly downloads and reaching around 2.4K by the end of June. Revenue for Snapchat saw a dramatic rise, especially in June, peaking at around $157 in the first week of the month.

Messenger had a varied performance throughout the quarter. Weekly downloads fluctuated, starting from around 1K and peaking at nearly 1.7K in early June. Revenue showed some spikes, notably reaching $33 in mid-May before dropping to zero at the end of June.

Rakuten Viber Messenger demonstrated stable download numbers, beginning with about 1K weekly downloads and peaking at around 1.5K in mid-June. Revenue saw a significant increase in early June, reaching approximately $286, before stabilizing around $113 by the end of the quarter.
